Asian wedding

Modern Asian wedding inspiration, Core Clapton London

At the beginning of the year Heather asked if I wanted to collaborate on a Modern Asian wedding shoot in London. I was so excited to plan this shoot together and was very passionate about representing Asian culture and faces in the wedding industry as well as work with other Asian wedding suppliers. We wanted to showcase an Asian wedding in a contemporary way to inspire couples to firstly feel seen as well as create a stylish and special shoot to inspire couples planning their own fusion wedding!

Our modern Asian wedding shoot brings a sophisticated, fresh and updated approach on traditional elements you would expect from a Chinese or Vietnamese wedding. Martha from Anemone helped us style our shoot, we use peach, mauve and pinks instead of the traditional red for a modern and romantic look, we also used gold for a luxurious and 'lucky' feel and this is woven in the stationery from Jo Studio Design, embroidery from Tabitha Textiles, cake from Amalina Bakes and contemporary furnishings.

We created and styled the Chinese tea ceremony set up using the traditional components such as the 2 chairs, cushions and tea set but with unexpected elements such as florals on the frame by Catherine Short florals, a bamboo screen and a hand written sign with a Chinese proverb by Bewilderly. We wanted to inspire our couples to embrace an age-old traditional of exchanging tea with their elders on their wedding day by making it feel pretty and romantic.

The Chinese double happiness symbol seen throughout the shoot represents double the joy and happiness for the newlyweds as they begin their marriage. It can be seen on the embroidery items such as the groom's socks and pocket square, as well as the invitations and menus. It's a positive reminder of the journey our couple are taking together as well as inspiration on different ways to use this symbol for themselves on their wedding day.

The geometric ceremony backdrop from Rock the Day, paper lanterns orbs and arch cake added a dynamic yet cohesive feel with the unique shapes and lines. We feel these bold designs really add the wow factor! The hand painted fan cookies, personalised napkins and lanterns add a sweet nod to Asian elements that we know and love.

Thank you to our wonderful suppliers who worked so hard with their creativity.

We are thrilled to have our shoot featured on Junebug wedding blog and Rock My Wedding!
